A Blog To Watch

Website  +   Mobile Website  +  Daily RSS Emails  +  Social Media

What was a small WordPress blog pulling in a few hits a week in 2009, I built into, along with the Founder, Ariel Adams, what it is today: the world’s most popular watch media source, with watch reviews, industry news and buying guides, garnering millions of hits a month.

The thinking man’s watch porn.

I met Ariel Adams in 2009 when he had a small WordPress blog with no design or traffic to speak of, but it did have a daily stream of watch articles he had written himself.  He had little to no access to watch brands to do fresh reviews, and advertisers were few and far between.

I renamed the blog, we hired writers, and I worked with various designers on redesigns to accommodate growth.  I set up an admin area for the writers which allowed for the dynamic content to automatically populate on the front end. I used Double-Click for Publishers to set up ads as they started to come in.  I set up every social media channel available – including Weibo – and traffic started to gradually get better and better.  My SEO work really made our traffic soar… For the last few years I was working with A Blog To Watch, if you searched for “Omega watches,” for example, A Blog To Watch was second only to Omega’s own site in Google search results.

Once established as a major influencer, watch brands like Rolex not only wanted to advertise with us, but allowed us first look at major watch shows like Baselworld in Switzerland.  Traffic was around 4 million hits a month at my exit, blowing away the competition.

Watch enthusiasts worldwide now have a unique place to watch porn.

``I worked with Kristin at A Blog To Watch, she was the front-end guru that built out the website (and business). Great knowledge of SEO and analytics, but also always helpful in gaining consumer insights from reams of data. She was also integral in our ad-ops, social media content/maintenance and overall business planning and programming. She also trained the ABTW writers on how to publish high scoring articles, and make a sticky social media push to boot. Kristin helped build that business from the ground up, and I enjoyed working with her until her departure in mid 2018. She made our de-centralized team feel like we were much closer. Overall, Kristin gets plugged right in to the projects she works on, and was an integral part of ABTW. I had also engaged Kristin on some side projects where she helped me design and build sites for various clients. Jobs went smoothly, and clients were always pleased.`` - Matt Smith-Johnson, Founder, Sentient Creative

Sitewide Copywriting & Design Support
Our writers wrote the engaging articles, but I was the voice of the site, as shown in this sample description block. I also provided design support by piecing together banners and promotional images, as displayed below.
